Felice Festa dell’Unità d’Italia a tutti gli Italiani e allegro St. Patrick’s Day a tutti i nostri amici Irlandesi in Italia e oltralpe.

***

This year the 17th of March is a major holiday in Italy because it’s the 150th anniversary of the country’s unification. But it’s also the national holiday of the Republic of Ireland – St. Patrick’s Day! So in the first of the two nations there’ll be parades “dressed” in green, white and red – the colors of the Italian flag – and in the second the traditional shamrock green of the Irish.
Our pets will probably want to take part in all that, but we should have a care to see that they don’t get drunk either on beer or on general street confusion.
Happy “Unification” then to our Italian readers and an equally Happy St. Pat’s Day to our friends everywhere.
